The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations conducted a survey of over 200 employers in the Auburn local government area. Most employers reported difficulties in recruiting and retaining suitable staff.
This presentation includes a labour market overview of the Auburn area and an analysis of the survey of employers' recruitment experiences conducted in the region.

In April 2006 a successful one-day Employment Expo was organised by Auburn City Council. The event attracted around 1,000 job seekers.
Auburn Employment Month was then held in May 2007. Key events included a Job Pathways Expo; Employment Workshops and Seminars; and the Auburn Jobs Expo. A total of 53 organisations and approximately 1,000 job seekers participated in one or more of the program activities.
