What do I do if my bin was not emptied or missed on my collection day?
  • You must contact Council's Customer Service on (02) 9735 1222 as soon as possible so that your bin will be collected the next day.
How do I avoid my bin being missed?
  • Do not overfill your bin or it will not be collected. Make sure the lid is closed to avoid spillage.
  • Ensure your rubbish is presented in an official Council issued bin or it will not be collected.
  • Wheel your bin to the kerb the night before service in an accessible position with the front facing the road (handles facing rear towards your house).
  • Do not put additional bundles or bags of garbage next to or on top of your bin. It will not be collected and is considered illegal dumping and could incur a $750 fine.
  • Do not put non-compliant items in your bin contaminated bins will not be collected and you will be required to remove the contaminated material.
What do I do if my bin is stolen or missing?
  • Search along your street to see if your bin has been misplaced. If you still cannot find the bin, either contact Council's Customer Service on (02) 9735 1222 or lodge an online request and report a stolen bin.
What do I do if my lid, wheels or bin is cracked or broken?
  • Contact either Council's Customer Service on (02) 9735 1222 or lodge an online request for bin repairs.
Does Auburn City Council collect Construction and Demolition or Home Renovation Waste?
  • No, non-collectable items can be disposed of at the Waste Management Centre on Old Hill Link Road, LIDCOMBE or Chullora Recycling Park on Muir Road, CHULLORA. For more information on these facilities, call SITA Environmental Solutions Customer Service Centre on 13 13 35.
I had a party on the weekend and have a few bags of rubbish that can not fit in my bin, where can I take the rubbish bags?
  • Make sure that you have taken out any recyclable material (aluminium / steel cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles, paper, plastic containers). If there is still too much rubbish, take the bags to your local Waste Management Centre, either; the Waste Management Centre on Old Hill Link Road, LIDCOMBE or Chullora Recycling Park on Muir Road, CHULLORA. I have just moved into a new house, how do I get new bins?
I have a big family, how do I apply for a larger bin?
  • Make sure that you are sorting your waste and recycling as much as you can. Download and complete a Domestic Waste Service 2014-2015 form. If you are a tenant, please make sure that the owner has completed this form.​

Hazardous Waste

Hazardous waste includes chemicals, cleaning solvents, paints, pesticides, gas cylinders, car batteries, asbestos, pool chemicals, fluorescent tubes, fire extinguishers and motor oil.

Household Items in Good and/or Working Condition

The following organizations will pick up white goods, mattresses, wardrobes, books, toys, electrical, clothing and other furniture for FREE if they are in good and/or working condition. Make sure you phone and book first.
