Mobile phone recycling

MOBILE PHONE RECYCLINGMobile phone muster

Did you know that you shouldn't throw your old, unwanted mobile phone in the bin?

Many of the materials used to make a phone can be recovered for reuse, such as nickel, gold, silver, cadmium and cobalt, as well as most plastics.

The MobileMuster

Auburn City Council has joined the nationwide MobileMuster program. MobileMuster is the official recycling program of the mobile phone industry and is funded by leading mobile phone manufacturers and network carriers.

By recycling and reusing the metals and plastics in mobile phones you can help avoid greenhouse gasses normally emitted in the process of mining, refining and producing those materials. Recycling also helps keep potentially harmful substances out of landfill.

Recycle mobile phone collection pointsWhere can I take my phone?

Simply bring your old mobile phones, batteries and accessories to a collection point and place them in the MobileMuster boxes.

Collection points have been established at Libraries throughout the LGA as well as at Auburn City Council’s Customer Service Centre at the Town Hall.

Remember to delete all personal information from your handset and remove the sim card before taking your phone to be recycled.
