Australia Day celebrations

Hosted in conjunction with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority and held each year in Bicentennial Park, our local Australia Day celebrations are a FREE family day out full of entertainment for everyone.

We start the day with a special Citizenship Ceremony and the announcement of our Local Citizen of the Year Awards.  The rest of the day is filled with kids’ entertainment, an animal farm, pony rides, roving entertainers, a community arts and craft bazaar, indigenous art workshops, amusement rides and a huge Fireworks finale!

Seniors Week

NSW Seniors Week is a change for our local senior residents to get out and try something different - meet new people, experience different cultures and visit different places.  Each year Auburn City Council develops and extensive program of activities to celebrate and recognise the valuable contribution our local seniors make to the community.

Youth Week

National Youth Week is the largest  celebration of young people in Australia.  It aims to encourage young people to share ideas, showcase their talents and celebrate their contribution to the community.  Auburn City Council is proud to be involved in Youth Week each year and hosts a local event in conjunction with important partners such as Auburn Youth Centre, Beyond Empathy, Auburn Community Development Network and Auburn Diversity Services Inc.

Refugee Week

Refugee Week 2011, with the theme of the week being 'Freedom from Fear'.

The Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) works with agencies around Australia to coordinate Refugee Week, a national celebration of newly arrived refugees into the country and an effort to assist with their settlement process.

Auburn is an area that many refugees have made their home. Auburn receives the largest influx of refugees in NSW, which makes the celebrations for Refugee Week a very important event in this area.
