WESTERN SYDNEY ACADEMY OF SPORT

The Western Sydney Academy is responsible for identifying, developing and implementing quality opportunities for the development of talented young female and male athletes across a wide range of sports in the Western Sydney Region.  

The Academy catchment area covers 1,800 square kilometres and includes 10 Local Government Areas in Western Sydney, including Auburn.

The Academy’s high performance training programs have established benchmark standards and value in officially recognized development pathway for talented athletes.

The Academy of Sport aims to:

  • Provide opportunities and encouragement for talented junior sports people to achieve excellence in sport
  • Provide these athletes with access to specialist support services including coaching, sports science and sports medicine
  • Develop athletes into outstanding sports citizens
  • Promote the area as a region of sporting excellence
  • Play an active part in the sports development system within NSW and Australia, and assist in promoting sport and coach development at the grass-roots level

Current Programs

The Academy currently runs programs in:

• AFL • Lawn Bowls • Slalom Canoe
• Cycling • Netball • Cycling
• Golf • Rugby League • Tennis

 

Where opportunities exist in the future, additional programs will be added.
