A decision on sportsground closures will be made each Friday by 12pm midday. If a sportsground is closed, Auburn City Council will reassess the situation the following Monday by 12.00pm midday.

Closing a sportsground

• The likelihood of injury to players
• The condition of the sportsground when inspected
• The sport being played and the likelihood of damage to the playing surface
• The Bureau of Meteorology weather forecast

Club responsibilities

Clubs do not have the authority to approve the use of a sportsground that has been closed by Auburn City Council because of inclement weather.

Any club that uses a sportsground that has been closed by Auburn City Council will be liable for the full cost of repair. The Club's usage agreement with Council may also be terminated.

In instances where Auburn City Council information has deemed all sportsgrounds open, clubs or umpires and referees may choose to close specific grounds to prevent injury to players.

Sportsground users should be aware that sportsground closures can occur at short notice. All users are encouraged to contact the Wet Weather Information Line on (02) 9735 1299 for up-to-date Information.
