SPORTSGROUNDS IN AUBURN CITY

Auburn City Council provides, manages and maintains a network of sportsgrounds for the recreational benefit of the local community. The grounds are multipurpose facilities that are used for activities such as soccer, rugby, netball, cricket, AFL and school sports. 

These grounds can be used free of charge for informal activities. However, all organised sporting and recreational activities and events must be approved in advance by Auburn City Council.

Winter and Summer Seasons

• Winter season: the first weekend in April to the last weekend in August
• Summer season: the first weekend in October to the last weekend in March

Applications to play winter sports during the summer season will generally not be considered (e.g. soccer, rugby league and AFL).

Sportsground Hire

The sportgrounds can be hired on a casual or seasonal basis.

• Casual hire is appropriate for one-off or infrequent activities. Applications for casual hire should be submitted to Council for assessment not less than one week before the date of the planned event or activity.
• Seasonal hire is suitable for activities that extend over a number of days and weeks throughout the season. Applications for seasonal hire must be submitted to Council for assessment not less than 4 weeks before the start of the season.

Additional Approvals

Additional approvals may be required for some activities and events:

• Those that involve the erection of temporary structures such as marquees, shade structures and banners
• Where parking plans and first aid plans are required
• Where additional waste containers and portable toilets are required
• Where the use of some equipment produces heat, sound or light e.g. public address and lighting systems
• Amusement devices, kindy farms and pony rides

Insurance

All schools and incorporated organisations are required to provide evidence of public liability insurance cover of $10 million.
