Acting General Manager
Peter Fitzgerald

The General Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of Auburn City Council's organisation and for ensuring the implementation, without undue delay, of Council decisions. The General Manager's department represents Auburn City Council to key stakeholders, both within government and the community.

Director, Business and Finance
Graeme Thomas

The principle objective of this department is to support Councillors, the General Manager and other divisions of Council in their delivery of services to the community through a range of financial and management services. The department also provides current information to ensure the operations of Auburn City Council are fully accountable.

The following services are within this department:

  • Finance
  • Purchasing
  • Corporate Information
  • Information Technology
  • Customer Services
  • Support services for the Mayor and Councillors
  • Coordination of Council and Committee meetings

Director, Works and Services
Paul Donovan

The Works and Services department provides the community with a broad range of quality infrastructure and services delivered in a cost effective and timely manner. Works and Services is responsible for planning, designing and managing the upgrading of existing, and construction of new community assets and for the delivery of operational services.

This department has responsibility for the following functional areas of council:

  • Parks and Recreation – Management of parks and open space assets including the delivery of maintenance operational services and for recreational activities undertaken within this asset group.
  • Properties – Management of Council’s property portfolio including commercial and residential properties, community and sporting facilities and operational properties.
  • Engineering - Management of traffic, stormwater and road infrastructure assets.
  • Project Delivery – Project manage the delivery of major capital works.
  • Operations – Management of plant, waste and recycling and the delivery of the domestic waste collection, road construction and maintenance, streetscape cleansing and building operational services.

Director, Planning and Environment
Mark Brisby

The Planning and Environment department has the objective of meeting the current & future land use, cultural, economic and development needs of the people of Auburn in a sustainable manner, consistent with the needs to conserve natural, recreational, heritage and community values.

This department has responsibility over the following services:

  • Strategic visioning and planning projects
  • Environmental and Land Use Planning
  • Development Assessments and Building Certification
  • Regulatory Control, including Environmental Protection (noise, air, water pollution), Animal Control and Public Health (food handling, legionella, fire safety etc).

Director, People and Places
Michelle Dowling

The People and Places department contributes to the social, recreational, economic and cultural life of the community by utilising community assets & resources to deliver and encourage a diverse, equitable and sustainable range of programs, services & activities for the community.
