The General Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of Auburn City Council's organisation and for ensuring the implementation, without undue delay, of Council decisions. The General Manager's department represents Auburn City Council to key stakeholders, both within government and the community.
Specific responsibilities include:
The principle objective of this department is to support Councillors, the General Manager and other divisions of Council in their delivery of services to the community through a range of financial and management services. The department also provides current information to ensure the operations of Auburn City Council are fully accountable.

The Works and Services department provides the community with a broad range of quality infrastructure and services delivered in a cost effective and timely manner. Works and Services is responsible for planning, designing and managing the upgrading of existing, and construction of new community assets and for the delivery of operational services.

The Planning and Environment department has the objective of meeting the current & future land use, cultural, economic and development needs of the people of Auburn in a sustainable manner, consistent with the needs to conserve natural, recreational, heritage and community values.
