AUBURN LOCAL BUSINESS GETS VOCAL

Local business owners have informed Auburn Council they need help managing, strengthening and growing their businesses.

Council has taken action by organising free workshops on a range of topics throughout May and June 2012, including:
·         Keeping business records – what business needs to know and do
·         Using social media and marketing to grow business
·         Tax basics for small business
·         Creating business plans
·         New Work Health and Safety legislation – what every business needs to know.

Auburn Mayor Ronney Oueik said it was important to realise that improved business practice
opens doors for business owners to secure a market, expand their operations and increase profits.

“If our local businesses are run professionally, consumer confidence increases and there is more prosperity throughout our area,” he said.

“Profits often feed back into the community and this is important for areas like Auburn with high population growth.”

Mr Oueik said he is proud to be part of a Council that offers free business advice and assistance to its local businesses.

“It’s important we teach good practice because we need our businesses to survive in both good and bad economic times.”
