Auburn pool is ready for Summer!
During the winter months, Auburn City Council has undertaken a program of works at the Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre to ensure swimmers can have some summer fun at the pool.
Director for Works and Services, Paul Donovan, said: “The winter period is the ideal time to carry out works to the pool complex. During the July shutdown we were able to replace the broken tiles in the indoor pool and refill the expansion joints to prevent water leakages.”
“There is brand new timber decking on the indoor pool entry stairs and ramps and the female changing room walls have been re-rendered . New tiling in the cubicles has improved the appearance and has made them much easier to clean.”
Pool Operator Big Island Sport has re-painted the walls of the entrance area and the changing rooms.
Mayor Hicham Zraika said: “We are really pleased that the works have been completed successfully. We are looking forward to welcoming residents and visitors so they can start taking advantage of this great facility.”
In the longer term, Council is planning an overall upgrade of the pool. Expressions of interest have been called for detailed architectural designs and submissions are currently being assessed.
Council will then be able to develop a staged strategy for sourcing funding for the project in consultation with the community.
