Apply online for Council’s Community Grants Program 2012
Community organisations and local residents will benefit from Auburn Council’s Community Grants Program providing funds for projects that meet a social or welfare need in the community or enhance cultural life of the area. A total funding pool of $100,000 is available. Organisations providing services to the Auburn community can each apply for up to $10,000. Volunteer based organisations are able to apply for grants up to $5,000.
Community organisations are invited to apply for the program with applications being accepted online from Monday 23rd January 2012 till Monday 27th February 2012.
Local non-profit community and cultural-based organisations can receive financial assistance for one–off projects and initiatives that address the community development and social support needs of the Auburn Local Government Area as specified in the funding priorities for the Auburn local government area, available on council’s website.
Projects that have been developed in consultation with the community and involve community participation in the implementation and evaluation of the project are encouraged to be submitted.
In 2011, the Australian Ataturk Cultural Centre received a grant of $5,000 to deliver the Youth Education Project. The project provided free HSC support classes for financially disadvantaged young Turkish high school students studying in year 11 and 12. The classes catered for up to 20 students. Support in subjects of Maths and English was provided.
To provide local organisation with more information about the program, two information sessions will be held:
Tuesday 24th January 2012, 10am -11.30am or Tuesday 24 January 2012, 6pm-7.30pm, Auburn Centre for the Community, Cnr Macquarie Road and Hutchinson Street.
In addition, a workshop has been organised to help applicants prepare a successful admission. The venue will be confirmed after registration.
