Auburn is the place to be when it comes to sampling and enjoying dishes from all over the world. People from more than 100 different cultural backgrounds live in Auburn and each has their own unique food history, which is why Auburn City Council and the Auburn Small Community Organisation Network are hosting “The Flavours of Auburn” at Auburn Town Hall on Saturday 30th October 2010.

For an entry fee starting at $5 you will be able to fill up and get a voucher to taste food from three of the many stalls. Not only will there be food from Sierra Leone, Somalia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Burma, Afghanistan and India, but there will also be music and dance.

“Flavours of Auburn is part of the renowned Sydney International Food Festival and focuses on the culinary culture and heritage of our community and on food that you can’t find easily in restaurants. This is why this event is a must for adventurous food lovers throughout Sydney,” said Mayor for Auburn City Council, Ronney Oueik.

“There are over a 124 different cultures in Auburn, which is reflected in the many different restaurants and food shops throughout the LGA. In Auburn you can get anything from fried ice cream, to Vietnamese seafood rolls, kebabs to Lebanese breads and sweets. It is a great place for sampling Asian, African and Middle Eastern foods at very reasonable prices.”
