Community organisations receive funding from local clubs!
Local community organisations will receive nearly half a million between them which has been generously donated by local clubs. Dooleys, Auburn RSL Club, Auburn Soccer Sports Club and Auburn Tennis Club were the local clubs who contributed under the NSW GovernmentCommunity Development and Support Expenditure Scheme (CDSE) Category 1. Funding for 2010 has increased by 10% from last year from $436,005 to $477,528.
“The Auburn CDSE Scheme is specifically aimed at promoting community support at a local level. Preference has been given to projects and services that specifically help people within the Auburn Local Government area and those projects and services that are not currently provided,” said Jennie Dunlop, Community Projects Officer for Auburn City Council.
“Services that improve the lives of low income and disadvantaged people such as community health and employment assistance activities are the type of services that have received funding through CDSE. Auburn Diversity Services has received funding to run an early literacy program and The Association of Bhanin El-Minieh will undertake swimming programs for women and young people.”
Auburn Council administers the scheme. This year 90 applications were received, with 49 of these applications receiving approval for funding.
An official presentation ceremony will be held in the Exhibition Gallery at Auburn City Library, on Tuesday the 31st of August 2010 from 10am to 11.30 am (invitation only) when the successful applicants will receive their funding allocation.
