PUBLIC AMENITIES UPGRADES
The winter weather may well be a while off, but the new winter sports season is heating up. Auburn City Council has responded by upgrading public toilet facilities at four separate locations in Lidcombe, Berala and Auburn.
The upgrade project is partly funded under the NSW State Government’s Community Building Partnership Program. Auburn City Council contributed $183,238 in total with the partnership program providing the remaining $36,236.
Amenities at Phillips Park, Auburn Park and Progress Park were all refurbished in February, with Coleman Park, Berala, due for upgrade mid-March. The toilets are being completely refitted and painted in a modern style similar to facilities at the new Progress Park Sports and Community Centre. The refurbished toilets are brighter and fresher looking as well as easier to keep clean.
Auburn Mayor Ronney Ouiek thanked the NSW State Government for their funding contribution and outlined the importance of safe, clean and efficient amenities at local sports grounds.
“We want children and the general community to feel comfortable and proud of the facilities at their parks, gardens and sportsgrounds,” he said.
“Our sportsgrounds around Auburn City are very popular and these upgrades will provide a better environment for those beginning their busy winter sports programmes.”
