What is categorisation of land?

Rates are levied in accordance with the value and the category of the land. The Local Government Act 1993 requires all land to be categorised according to its dominant use.

If you disagree with the category of land shown on the rate notice, if the dominant use has changed or if the property is used for both residential and business purposes, you may wish to contact Auburn City Council's Rates section on (02) 9735 1222.

You will need to fill in an application form for a review of categorisation. Download the Application for Change in Category of Land.
