How and when to pay my rates

HOW AND WHEN TO PAY

When are rates levied?

Rates are levied each year for the period 1 July to 30 June.

Rate notices are posted in July and the amount levied may be paid in one payment prior to 31 August without interest charges or may be paid by four instalments due on the following dates:
  • 1st instalment - 31 August
  • 2nd instalment - 30 November
  • 3rd instalment - 28 February
  • 4th instalment - 31 May
Provided the payments are received on or before the due date no interest will be charged.

Instalment reminder notices are posted about a month before each instalment is due.

Payments not received by the due date are charged interest calculated on a daily basis. The rate of interest charged for the 2011/2012 rating year is 11% per annum.

If you have instalments paid by Direct Debit, the instalment amount will be drawn from your account on the due date without you needing to take any action at all.  The direct debit service is free of charge and allows you to avoid the hassle of remembering to pay on the instalment date.
