The 'Africultures', or 'Celebration of African Cultures' Festival is a fantastic Auburn community-operated event, typical of the amazingly diverse, colourful and vibrant cultures residing within the Auburn area.
The event is run by a combined force of various community organisations, including the Somali Welfare and Culture Association, the African Women's Group, Sierra Leonean Women's Wan Word, Anglicare Diocese of Sydney and many other, with the support of Auburn City Council.
The 2012 event is to be held on Saturday 17 March at Auburn Park and is set to be another cultural extravaganza with record numbers of people and performers to be involved celebrating in true African style.
The Festival is a showcase of African cultures consiting of music, drum and dance performances, unique and traditional African foods and an vast array of arts and crafts, colourful clothing, handmade jewellery and cultural products from many, diverse African nations.
The event brings together people from all nations of Africa who now call Australia home, as well as those from non African communities, in a celebration of unity, tolerance, friendship and fun. It is a shining example of the Auburn community and the people who live here.
