Graffiti is unsightly and gives the impression our neighbourhoods, buildings and public spaces are uncared for. The defacing of buildings and public spaces with unwanted graffiti is a growing problem, which Council wants to prevent and clean up as soon as it occurs.

Graffiti is classed by the Police as property damage. This is a crime and carries financial penalties and imprisonment. Any intentional mark on an unauthorised location is considered to be graffiti vandalism.

Council has developed a comprehensive graffiti abatement program that includes a daily monitoring and cleansing program.

Yes, Council can remove graffiti on private property, but Council will require written approval for access and removal by the owner first.
