HERITAGE BUILDINGS AND ITEMS
"Heritage" involves places and landscapes of historic, cultural, social, spiritual, archaeological, architectural or aesthetic significance.
The heritage of the Auburn Council Local Government Area is mainly managed through the Auburn Local Environmental Plan 2000. Part 9 of the
Auburn LEP 2000 revised 3 March 2006 contains the planning controls for heritage conservation and Schedule 2 lists all the heritage items in the Auburn Local Government Area.
The heritage listing is a schedule of things that have been accepted as having heritage values or heritage significance.
A broad range of heritage significant items and features that reflect the diverse history of the Auburn Local Government Area is listed in Schedule 2 of the Auburn Local Environmental Plan 2000. This includes dwellings, industrial buildings and sites, streetscapes, transport related items, commercial buildings, public /community buildings, landscape items (trees etc) and religious buildings.
Auburn Council provides heritage advice on building design and streetscape issues on development relating to heritage items and buildings/environments within the Auburn Local Government Area. This advice is available to the community and applicants and is often incorporated within the development assessment process.
