Auburn Council recognises the importance of pets for residents in the LGA. Owning a pet involves a great deal of responsibility not only for the animals' welfare, but also to ensure that  pets don’t become a nuisance to the community. If you are a responsible and caring pet owner then you will have a happy and well cared for animal. To help you and the community have maximum enjoyment from pets, Council implements a number of policies on:

• Keeping animals (including information on off-leash areas for dogs)
• Registration of animals (including information on desexing, microchipping and impound charges)
• Lost animals
• Animal complaints (including information on dangerous and restricted dogs, barking dogs etc)
• Native animals
